This week, ahead of Veteran’s Day, we are highlighting the millions of dollars in recoveries we have secured through our Military and Veterans Assistance Program. Our MVAP team includes dedicated attorneys and investigators who help military members, veterans and their families affected by scams and deceptive business practices targeting their communities.
Over the past five years, MVAP has successfully resolved more than 2,300 complaints and recovered nearly $3.5 million for affected military members and families. Florida is home to more than 100,000 active and reserve members of our Armed Forces and more than 1.5 million veterans. We must ensure they are protected from unscrupulous business practices.
From helping a veteran with PTSD get out of a terrible roofing company contract after Hurricane Ian to shutting down multiple charity fraud schemes misleading donors that contributions would assist homeless or wounded veterans, our MVAP team goes above and beyond for those who defend our freedoms.
Florida takes pride in being a military-friendly state. To all our heroes selflessly serving in the U.S. military and our veterans across our country, I say thank you.
By looking out for our military veterans and service members, we are building a Stronger, Safer Florida.
