Attorney General Moody Leads States in Demanding the Resignation of DHS Secretary Mayorkas

Attorney General Ashley Moody is demanding the immediate resignation of U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas—leading 13 other states in an effort to replace the DHS leader. Citing the continued failure to enforce federal law, Attorney General Moody and the multistate coalition of attorneys general are demanding Secretary Mayorkas leave office as his failed leadership is resulting in a disaster at the southwest border and puts the nation on the verge of a national security crisis.

Attorney General Moody Urges FTC to Create Robust Rule Outlawing Impersonation Scams

Attorney General Ashley Moody is leading a multistate effort calling on the Federal Trade Commission to adopt a national rule to target impersonation scams. Along with 48 other Attorneys General, Attorney General Moody is raising concerns about the plethora of impersonation scams targeting consumers and the current lack of a national rule to outlaw these fraudulent acts.

Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “Though the methods may vary, imposter scams cause financial harm to consumers, drain resources from regulators tasked with protecting the public and may cause loss of trust in government services. Attorney General Moody Announces Arrest of Nursing Home Employee for Exploiting a Disabled Senior

Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, with the assistance of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a former employee from a skilled rehabilitation center for exploiting a disabled senior. According to the investigation, Kari Faye Luper obtained the credit card of a vulnerable adult under her care and used the funds for personal benefit.

Attorney General Moody Announces Arrest of Certified Nursing Assistant for Defrauding Florida Medicaid Program

Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, with the assistance of the Hollywood Police Department, arrested Leita Tanis Apollon, a Medicaid provider. Apollon worked as a certified nursing assistant and defrauded the Florida Medicaid program out of more than $38,000 by submitting fraudulent claims.
