TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—In recognition of National Random Acts of Kindness Day, Attorney General Ashley Moody surprised a group of police officers and thanked them for their service. Attorney General Moody brought donuts to the Tallahassee Police Department this morning for a group of officers gathered for check-on.
Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “As the wife of a law enforcement officer, I know all too well the challenges and dangers Florida law enforcement officers face every day to protect their communities. We should thank them for their service daily, not just on special occasions, that is why I have created a Back the Blue award and why I will never relent in my support for the brave men and women of Florida law enforcement. On this day, I want to encourage Floridians to consider doing something nice for those who dedicate their life to protecting and serving others.”
Supporting law enforcement is a key focus of Attorney General Moody’s administration. Last year, Attorney General Moody launched the Back the Blue Campaign to highlight law enforcement officers, citizens and organizations taking extraordinary steps to forge positive relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
In January, U.S. Attorney General William Barr named Attorney General Moody to the President’s Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice. The Commission is exploring modern issues affecting law enforcement that most impact the ability of American policing to reduce crime. The Commission will meet monthly for the next year and then report its findings to the U.S. Attorney General, who will submit a final report to the President.
