TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General Moody today presented a resolution at a Florida Cabinet Meeting recognizing Florida’s Silver Alert Program—a program designed to help law enforcement find older missing Floridians. The Governor and Florida Cabinet unanimously passed the resolution.
Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “Protecting Florida’s seniors is a major focus of my office. It is why I created a Senior Protection Team, and it is why, I am excited to celebrate more than a decade of Florida’s Silver Alert Program. This life-saving program has reunited more than 2,100 missing Florida seniors with loved ones and caregivers. The possibility of an older family member going missing is a terrifying thought, but it is reassuring to know that Florida has as top-notch program in place to help rescue missing seniors.”
A public notification system established in 2008, Silver Alert issues notices about older missing persons struggling with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other cognitive disorders. Silver Alert is an effective tool helping law enforcement locate missing individuals and to help prevent tragedies from occurring to one of Florida’s most vulnerable demographics.
