Attorney General James Uthmeier Secures 25-Year Prison Sentence for Predator Who Possessed Child Pornography
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution secured a 25-year prison sentence for a predator charged with 22 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). According to the law enforcement investigation, Lucus Figueroa downloaded and exchanged CSAM, and engaged in explicit conversations with other online users regarding the content.
“This predator possessed at least 22 files of child sexual abuse material featuring minors around the age of 12—and there is evidence of him engaging in disturbing, explicit conversations about a supposed 11-year-old,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “Thanks to our law enforcement partners at FDLE and Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Rebecca Smith-Hameroff, this pedophile will spend the next 25 years behind bars.”
The investigation began when the messaging app Kik reported Figueroa, one of the site’s users, to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), suspecting that Figueroa possessed 51 files of CSAM. NCMEC then submitted the cybertip to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. While executing a search warrant at Figueroa’s residence, FDLE agents uncovered several phones and digital devices, finding at least 22 files of CSAM of minors around the age of 12.
Attorney General Uthmeier’s OSP handled the case.
