Attorney General James Uthmeier Presents Back to Blue Award to Kirsten Bridegan of the Bridegan Foundation
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Today, Attorney General James Uthmeier presented the Back the Blue award to Kirsten Bridegan for her extraordinary support of law enforcement and the community through the Bridegan Foundation.
“By turning tragedy into a source of compassion, Kirsten Bridegan is making a lasting impact on law enforcement and our communities,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “I’m honored to present a Back the Blue Award to Kirsten for her efforts to help others with the Bexley Boxes program—where essential childcare items are provided to Florida law enforcement officers to help them comfort children who find themselves in traumatic situations.”
In 2022, Kirsten’s daughter Bexley spent hours at a police station after she witnessed the traumatic murder of her father, Jared Bridegan. At the police station, law enforcement tried to comfort Bexley, but the officers had limited supplies on hand.
After Bexley’s tragic situation, Kirsten formed the Bridegan Foundation and created Bexley Boxes, which provide essential childcare items like blankets, diapers, and snacks to law enforcement offices. Bexley Boxes have been distributed to several Florida agencies and 11 other states.
The Back the Blue Award recognizes law enforcement officers who go above and beyond the call of duty and community members who show extraordinary support for the men and women who wear a badge.
