This week, we inducted Florida’s first city government into our 100 Percent Club. Our anti-human trafficking club is exclusive to organizations that commit to training employees on how to spot and report human trafficking.
Since its inception in 2022, dozens of businesses, nonprofits and universities have joined the 100 Percent Club. We even brought a hospital on board. Through these efforts, more than 12,000 additional Floridians received expert anti-human trafficking training.
Now, we have a city in our club. Port St. Lucie is the third fastest growing city in the country, and its municipal leaders want to make sure it is growing responsibly. That is why I am so proud to partner with them on this important public safety endeavor.
PSL’s induction into our 100 Percent Club means there are now more than 1,000 municipal workers trained to spot and report human trafficking. They are our eyes and ears on the ground in St. Lucie County – all armed with the knowledge needed to help law enforcement protect the public.
During a news conference at City Hall, we announced the new partnership, and I challenged other local governments to follow PSL’s lead. But you do not have to be part of an organization to help us end human trafficking in Florida.
To learn more about the 100 Percent Club and how to identify a trafficking situation, visit YouCanStopHT.com. If you see suspicious activity, call Florida’s new Statewide Human Trafficking Hotline at 1(855) FLA-SAFE.
This simple step could help us build Stronger, Safer Florida.
