TALLAHASSEE, Fla—Attorney General Ashley Moody today released the following statement on Governor Ron DeSantis’ selection of Justice Carlos G. Muniz for the Florida Supreme Court:
“I applaud Governor DeSantis' appointment of Justice Muniz to the Florida Supreme Court. Justice Muniz has distinguished himself in his public service to this State, including his time serving as Chief Deputy Attorney General under Pam Bondi. He will be a great addition to the Florida Supreme Court.
“As I have said with each of Governor DeSantis’ selections, it is important that we have well-qualified justices who are committed to the rule of law. With all three selections, Governor DeSantis has appointed highly-qualified, high-character individuals, all of whom are committed public servants.
“Personally, I am excited about Justice Muniz’s appointment. Prior to taking office, I and my staff met and talked with Justice Muniz multiple times. I was struck by his intellect, his integrity and his insight into government. My office looks forward to appearing in front of the full Florida Supreme Court, including Justice Muniz.”
