This week, we recognized 2021 Data Privacy Day, a good time to review online security and take steps to better protect your data. Hackers and scammers want to take advantage of the fact that COVID-19 has forced millions of people to work remotely, often from less secure wireless connections. That is why it is so important to Own Your Privacy, which is the theme of this year’s Data Privacy Day.
To help you live up to this theme, I am offering tips to help you take charge and protect sensitive information. Protect your privacy online by:
· Creating strong passwords that use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters;
· Using strong security questions with answers that cannot be easily guessed or found online;
· Enabling multifactor authentication whenever possible; and
· Never providing financial or account information in response to an unsolicited email, phone call, text or social media message.
