Attorney General Moody and Uber Launch Virtual Human Trafficking Prevention Education Ahead of 2021 Super Bowl

Attorney General Ashley Moody is working with Uber to provide Human Trafficking Prevention Education to drivers ahead of Super Bowl LV in Tampa. With the game less than two weeks away, Attorney General Moody and Uber have launched a virtual education video to educate thousands of drivers and customers on how to better understand the crime of human trafficking, how it presents in our communities and what to do when they suspect someone is being trafficked. This is the second year the Attorney General’s Office has joined with Uber to educate drivers to help spot and report incidences of human trafficking in the days leading up to the championship game.

Assisted Living Facility Supervisor Arrested for Neglect of a 98-Year-Old Wheelchair-Bound Resident

Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office arrested a former assisted living facility resident aide shift supervisor for neglect of a resident. Pamela Grice, employed by Magnolia House to provide assistance to residents of the senior living facility, failed to report the fall of a 98-year-old, wheelchair-bound dementia resident, resulting in excruciating injuries. Attorney General Moody Honors Florida Women’s Hall of Fame Inductees in Virtual Ceremony

Attorney General Ashley Moody joined the Florida Commission on the Status of Women in honoring the newest inductees to the Florida Women’s Hall of Fame. The Commission inducted Alice Scott Abbott, Alma Lee Loy and E. Thelma Waters during a virtual ceremony for significant contributions to the citizens of Florida.

Two Men Arrested in $2.4 Million Alleged Fraudulent Investment Scheme

The Office of Financial Regulation announced the arrests of Nelson Armondo Garcia and David Aubel (aka David Kost) on charges related to their alleged involvement in a $2.4 million fraudulent investment scheme that victimized at least 12 Florida investors. Garcia, who was arrested on Dec. 17, 2020, was extradited from North Carolina to Broward County to face charges of engaging in a securities fraud conspiracy and unlicensed telemarketing. Aubel, who was arrested on Dec. 15, 2020, was extradited from federal prison in North Carolina where he had been serving a more than seven-year sentence for an unrelated securities fraud scheme. Aubel is currently charged with securities fraud (conspiracy), unlicensed telemarketing, three counts of money laundering and engaging in an organized scheme to defraud.

Showing blatant disregard for the Floridians they targeted, the defendants deliberately and systematically bilked millions of dollars from their victims with the false promise of returns on their investments.
