On Oct. 28, 2019, President Trump signed Executive Order No. 13896, authorizing and designating the U.S. Attorney General to create such a Commission that would explore modern issues affecting law enforcement that most impact the ability of American policing to reduce crime.
As a former prosecutor, judge and now as Florida’s Attorney General, I understand uniquely the toll crime takes on families, communities and the taxpayers. As the wife of a law enforcement officer, I know the sacrifices involved when a loved one risks their personal safety to ensure the safety of others.
I look forward to working with Attorney General Barr and my fellow Commissioners to identify strategies and innovative solutions to help reduce crime, support our law enforcement officers and protect the American people.
The Commission will review relevant research and expertise and make recommendations regarding important current issues facing law enforcement and the criminal justice system such as: challenges to law enforcement associated with mental illness, homelessness, substance abuse, and other social factors that influence crime and strain criminal justice resources.

CONSUMER ALERT: Delivery Text Message Scam Targets Floridians to Steal Credit Card Information
Attorney General Ashley Moody is issuing a Consumer Alert to warn Floridians about a new phishing scam targeting people expecting deliveries. The scam uses legitimate-looking text messages about the delivery status of an order. The message appears to be from FedEx and contains a fake tracking code and link to set delivery preferences. In some instances, these fraudulent messages contain the target’s name. Clicking on the link sends the target to a survey and requests credit card information.

Always be skeptical when receiving any solicitation and never give personal or financial information to anyone you do not know or is not a member of an established, legitimate business.” Read More
Attorney General Moody Promotes Human Trafficking Awareness Ahead of Pro Bowl and in Preparation for Super Bowl LIV
Attorney General Ashley Moody is asking the public to learn how to spot human trafficking ahead of the upcoming National Football League’s Pro Bowl in Orlando that takes place this Sunday and next week’s Super Bowl in Miami. The Pro Bowl is the NFL’s annual all-star game featuring the best professional football players in the world. With the massive influx of people that will be visiting Florida to attend both major events, the Attorney General hopes the public can help law enforcement spot suspicious activity to help stop human trafficking.
Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “With the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors, it is imperative that people remain vigilant to help law enforcement spot and stop human trafficking. During the week of last year’s Super Bowl in Atlanta, 160 people were arrested on charges related to human trafficking. That is why we are working diligently to raise awareness and train as many people as possible to be our eyes and ears during the festivities.” Read More
Attorney General Moody Enlists Local Businesses in Fight Against Human Trafficking Ahead of Super Bowl LIV
Attorney General Ashley Moody met with local business leaders and industry professionals at the Port of Miami to gather support in ongoing efforts to prevent human trafficking ahead of Super Bowl LIV. The championship game is only nine days away and will be played in Miami this year. With the influx of thousands of visitors to Florida for this event, comes the opportunity for traffickers to create a temporary, illegal market for human trafficking. Educating business owners and their employees about how to spot and report human trafficking will help law enforcement respond quickly to dangerous situations and enhance the safety of Floridians and out-of-state guests.

United States Attorney General William Barr appointed Attorney General Moody and presided over the ceremony.
