The Child Support Enforcement Bureau represents the Department of Revenue in 12 of Florida’s 67 counties in the establishment and enforcement of child support orders. CSE also provides appellate representation to DOR throughout the state. CSE offices are located in Ft. Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, and Tallahassee. CSE’s mission is to help children get the financial support they are entitled to from one or both parents. Attorneys for CSE appear in front of Hearing Officers, Magistrates, Circuit Court Judges, and Administrative Judges. In 2021, CSE received 21,140 referrals from the Department of Revenue and conducted 21,548 hearings in support of the children of the state of Florida.
Child support is calculated based on parents’ incomes along with other factors such as daycare/aftercare and health insurance costs. CSE enforces child support orders through a variety of tools including Motions for Contempt. In addition to establishing new orders of child support, CSE also addresses modification of child support orders based on changes in parents’ circumstances. CSE does not address visitation or custody.
