The Victim Advocate Program provides immediate response to the scene of serious crimes. The advocate provides direct attention to the victims or to the next of kin in homicide cases. Assistance with basic needs is provided, including crisis intervention and current case information. The advocate accompanies battery and abuse victims to the medical exam, as needed. Providing information and referral to appropriate community resources and promoting community awareness are also important components of this program.
