What is Escape School®?
Escape School is an abduction prevention program sponsored by Dignity Memorial that empowers children and parents by providing them with ways to recognize, avoid or escape potentially dangerous situations.
Offered in an entertaining and non-threatening manner, the program teaches children how to differentiate between good and bad strangers, the common lures abductors use, how to "get away, right away" and how to find help when needed. In addition to teaching key concepts, presenters engage children in demonstrations featuring several simple yet highly effective techniques for escaping dangerous situations.
During the 2004-2005 school year, Florida Attorney General, Charlie Crist, brought Escape School to 26 schools across Florida, reaching more than 4,000 children and parents with this life-saving program. In cooperation with Attorney General Crist, Dignity Memorial Escape School hopes to reach thousands more children and parents through local presentations this year and in the years to come. Who should use Dignity Memorial Escape School?
Dignity Memorial Escape School is intended for children between the ages of six and twelve. Presentations are often requested by community organizations, church groups, scouts, youth groups and schools. This unique training is designed for parents and their children. Intended as a catalyst for home-based instruction, parents are encouraged to attend the hour-long presentation with their children so they can reinforce the knowledge that leads to smart choices.
