TALLAHASSEE - Attorney General Charlie Crist today announced the arrest of a Bay County man on multiple charges of possession of child pornography and promoting the sexual performance of a child. Investigators discovered Kennison J. Boyer’s distribution and promotion of pornographic videos of children during an undercover online investigation.
Boyer, 32, of Lynn Haven, placed pornographic videos and images on the internet, where they were discovered by an investigator with Crist’s Child Predator CyberCrime unit, who was able to trace them back to Boyer. A search warrant was then executed at Boyer’s residence and his computer was seized, along with more than 2,000 images and videos of child pornography.
“Those who exploit children are the worse example of human beings in our society,” said Crist. “We will never cease our untiring efforts to lock these monsters up.”
Law enforcement officers executing the search warrant verified that Boyer’s computer contained the images of child pornography. The computer and other equipment removed from the residence will undergo further forensic analysis in an attempt to identify the children in the images and to determine if any further investigation is required.
Boyer is currently being held at the Bay County Jail. He is charged with one count of promoting the sexual performance of a child, a second-degree felony, and 10 counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 65 years in prison. Boyer was arrested by officers with Crist’s Child Predator CyberCrime Unit, with the assistance the Bay County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
The CyberCrime Unit's mission is to protect children from computer-facilitated sexual exploitation. The unit does this by working cooperatively on a statewide basis with law enforcement agencies and prosecutors to provide resources and expertise, while preventing the spread of these crimes through education and community awareness. Boyer’s arrest is the 24th made by officers with the unit since its inception in October 2005. The CyberCrime Unit is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) of North Florida.
