On December 4th, Attorney General Bill McCollum and the Florida InterAgency Mortgage Task Force invite Florida homeowners to attend a Community Forum on the Housing Crisis.

Bank of America, GMAC, Lenders from Wells Fargo/Wachovia, SunTrust and JPMorgan Chase will be available to discuss loan modification options.

This event will include a series of presentations from state and local government representatives as well as a Q&A session with attendees, lasting approximately two hours. Afterwards, representatives from these and other local government and community organizations will be available to answer individual questions and provide information about their services free of any cost.

December 4th – Central Florida Community Forum

Location: Exhibition Hall, Osceola Heritage Park, 1875 Silver Spur Lane, Kissimmee, Florida 34744.

Details: Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Community Forums will run from approximately 10 a.m to 4 p.m. The exhibit areas will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. During and after the presentations, lenders, volunteer lawyers and HUD counselors will also be available to meet with individuals from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking is free.

Exhibit Areas: Representatives from participating state and local government and community organizations will be available in the exhibit area from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit areas will provide an opportunity for Floridians to obtain vital information about housing issues, including but not limited to affordable housing, loan modifications and alternatives to foreclosure, buying and selling real estate in the current market, mortgage fraud, foreclosure procedures, and scams targeting those in default on their mortgage.

Lawyers from local legal aid organizations and other volunteer lawyers will be available to answer questions and provide brief individual consultations at no cost. HUD-certified housing counselors will also be available for free consultations.

Homeowners should bring the following items to the forum to maximize their ability to obtain assistance:

  • Mortgage loan number
  • Proof of employment, such as a recent payroll check stub
  • Bank account statement
  • Income tax returns and W2
  • Driver’s license or picture ID
