Florida Attorney General’s Honors Program
“I can think of no better way to have started my career as an attorney. The Honors Program allowed me to assist with drafting US Supreme Court briefs, oversee my own high-volume case docket, participate in complex multi-state civil investigations, and represent a professional licensing board. Where else could I have done all this in my first two years of practice?"

―Samantha Hunter, Honors Attorney, 2005-2007

The Honors Program provides a select number of recent law school graduates with the opportunity to engage in public service and practice within various divisions of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) in Tallahassee. Honors Attorneys are hired as full-fledged attorneys and start the Program after they sit for the Florida Bar.

Honors Attorneys participate in the Program for two years, during which they rotate through a maximum of four divisions. Rotations are selected in coordination with each attorney’s interests and provide them with experience in a range of practice areas. Divisions in which Honors Attorneys may be placed include: Administrative Law, Antitrust, Criminal Appeals, Economic Crimes, Medicaid Fraud, State Programs and the Office of the Solicitor General.

Honors Attorneys are assigned a mentor for each division through which they rotate. In addition, special activities are organized including lectures by legal scholars and visits to local administrative, law enforcement and judicial entities.

Participants in the Honors Program will not only gain valuable experience, but also earn a competitive salary to match their hard work. Availability is limited. The Attorney General’s Honors Program is an experience designed to inspire and enhance your legal career.
