The Attorney General is one of three members of the Florida Cabinet which, along with the Governor, constitutes the executive branch of government. Besides having a vote on the Cabinet, the attorney general serves as legal advisor to the group and represents the Governor and Cabinet in any litigation. As a Cabinet member, the Attorney General is also a member of the Clemency Board.

Collectively, the Cabinet serves as a board of directors for several state agencies including the departments of Revenue, Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Veterans Affairs and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. In addition, among its many duties, the Cabinet also acts as trustees of public lands.
